FAQ - How PulseUp Works | PulseUp

How PulseUp counts: the three daily questions, phone verification, why only verified answers publish, and what we never do with your answers.

How are PulseUp results collected and verified?

Only answers from phone-verified accounts count in the headline numbers. Verification confirms you control a real mobile number, and one number can verify only one account. We store your number to enforce that limit; it is never shown publicly and is never linked to how you answered. Verified people are counted exactly once per question per day. Results are published only as aggregates, never as individual answers.

Is pulsing anonymous, and how is my data protected?

Yes. Verification proves a unique real person exists; it is never linked publicly to how you answered. Shares always show the question and the count, never how anyone voted. Your individual responses are never sold or shared with any third party, and results are only ever shown in aggregate.

Why does PulseUp verify phone numbers?

One person, one phone, one voice. Phone verification is how PulseUp keeps the headline count to real people instead of bots and duplicate accounts. It is a one-time step. Answers from people who have not verified still count as participation, and any answers you have already saved count from the days they were cast once you verify.

What kind of information does PulseUp keep about me?

Only what's needed to run the platform: enough to confirm you're one real person, where you're roughly located so your pulse shows up in the right region, and anything you choose to add to your profile. Your profile is private by default. Nothing in it is visible to anyone else unless you choose to make your profile public.

Is my individual answer ever visible to anyone?

No. Results are shown only in aggregate. If you choose to make your profile public, people can see your pulse count, not a list of questions or the option you picked. Your individual answers stay private.

Do you share or sell my data?

No. We don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't let third parties follow you around the web from PulseUp.

How do the daily numbers and the founding period work?

A Pulse day runs midnight to midnight Eastern, and each day's final numbers lock when it ends. Splits and percentages appear only once a scope reaches 100 verified answers; below that, no split is shown. Presidential approval is in its founding period: approval answers carry forward instead of resetting each day, each verified person counting as one voice by their latest answer, until 1,000 verified voices unlock the first national reading. From the next day, approval joins the daily count like the other questions.

What can I change or control?

You can update most of your profile any time from your profile page. You also choose whether your profile stays private (the default) or goes public. A few fields are locked after signup, or limited to one change every few months, to keep demographic results honest. Those rules are shown next to each field.

What happens when I delete my account?

Everything tied to you is permanently removed, and your past pulses stop counting toward any chart. It's immediate and irreversible. If you sign back up later with the same phone, you get a clean slate.

How can I report a problem or suggest a feature?
